Bundaberg is ranked as the 7th best climate in the world as we are on the same latitude as Hawaii. The region is an agricultural hub that grew on the back of the sugar industry but now provides almost all manner of small crops to internal and export markets. Some of the biggest include macadamia nuts, ginger, sweet potatoes, chilli, zucchini, tomatoes, mangos, lychees, pumpkin, watermelon, rockmelon, potatoes and of course sugar. 

Bundaberg is also home of the production and export of the world famous Bundaberg Rum and its associated products and also Bundaberg Ginger Beer and associated soft drink varieties. Tours of the Bundaberg Distilling Company are conducted every day except Christmas Day and Good Friday.

Bundaberg is only 10km from the coast and features 5 local beaches with stinger free all year round swimming.

As the southernmost access to the Great Barrier Reef diving and snorkeling opportunities are available off some local beaches and tours are also available to the coral island atolls of Lady Musgrave and Lady Elliot.

The Hinkler Hall of Aviation, The Hinkler House Memorial and Museum are dedicated to our world famous aviator Bert Hinkler. Located in the Botanical Gardens you will also find the 1928 Cafe, Bundaberg Historical Museum, Bundaberg Sugar Museum; Bundaberg Railway museum and a locally operated steam train that gives you scenic tour of all.

Situated just 10km from the coast Bundaberg is the southernmost point of the Great Barrier Reef with access to the coral atoll islands of Lady Musgrave and Lady Elliot.  Diving and snorkeling opportunities also exist off many of the city’s 5 beaches. All beaches are patrolled and are stinger free. In fact many visitors from southern climes say we have all year round swimming. Locals may disagree but our winters are very mild and our summers are sub tropical.

Each year between October and January the world famous Mon Repos Turtle rookery is a hive of activity with laying and hatching of green loggerhead turtles. This is a world class facility but bookings are essential.
